樹木は年を重ねるごとに年輪が増えていく。
絵の中心には和紙で隠れてほとんど見えないSOTAIがいる。それを中心として年齢の層が色彩により重なっていく。
これは私の年輪である。
産まれ、年を重ね、性別に悩み、人としてのかたちを保とうと生きている私だ。

Age series
去年冬、豊田市美術館のゲルハルトリヒター展を観に行き”Strip”という作品に出会った。
横に長く伸びる色彩の層は、鑑賞中タイムトラベルのような時空感覚に陥った。
それに加えて、自分の今までの経験や体験が積層される地層の色彩のようなイメージが私の中で現れた。
そこで自分の人生の記憶を辿り、表れたものを色彩にしSOTAIに表現した。
作品名のナンバーは年齢を意味し、その年々で感じた私の色彩を表現している。
私が経験・体験したものは他者にも同じような経験があるのかもしれない。
それぞれのナンバーの作品たちは、私であり他者でもある。
SOTAIという記号的な人型のモチーフは、私を私ではなくしてくれる。
時空の間から出現したSOTAIは、過去でもあるし今(未来)でもある。

Last winter, I visited the Gerhard Richter exhibition at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art and encountered a work titled "Strip."
The horizontally stretched layers of color induced a sense of temporal travel, as if I were slipping through time and space while viewing it.

This experience sparked an image within me—one of strata composed of colors, representing the accumulation of my experiences and memories.
Reflecting on my life’s memories, I transformed these into colors and expressed them through the SOTAI motif. The numbers in the titles of these works represent my age, with the colors reflecting how I felt at each stage of life.

Each numbered work represents both myself and others.
The symbolic, human-like motif of SOTAI allows me to transcend my own identity. Emerging from the folds of time, SOTAI is simultaneously the past, the present, and even the future.
